Ashigaru

Trained farmers and villagers that aspire to become great warriors, Ashigaru are the first line of combat. They’re often the first to receive the blow, and the last to go back home — if they make it home at all.

Most Ashigaru didn’t even receive any kind of military training until they were adults. And even then, it was nowhere near the one a Samurai would receive throughout his entire life. They were instructed in the art of the sword just enough so they could put up a fight before dying.

Despite that, Ashigaru are loyal troops willing to give up their life for a cause. They might have never fought before, but they’re willing to do it if that’ll increase their chances of surviving at the end of the day.

Alone, they’ll perish in no time. But together they become a raging swarm of beasts, ready to engulf entire platoons of enemies.
