Yumi Bow
The samurai class started as very skilled mounted archers. Their bow, also known as Yumi, can be almost as long as a human body. It’s a devastating weapon that can take down enemies from the distance.
Mounted archers weren’t a thing until Japan’s war against the Emishi, the tribes of savages in the far north. Back then, Japanese officers saw time and time again their troops being killed by mounted archers who emerged from the shadows and disappeared into the trees before they were even capable of striking back.
Only after adopting their techniques for guerrilla warfare, Japan was able of fighting back and destroying the tribes of Emishi. Some believe that the hateful souls of the savages wandered into the deepest layers of the earth and that there they gave rise to the terrifying Oni that invaded the country.
