The Daimyo might not be the most effective warrior in the battlefield, but he is the most important one there. Without him, the battle is lost.

Even though he won’t be in the front lines, he has to be ready to fight at any moment. Especially since the use of Ninjas in battle became a widespread practice, now there’s no safe place for Daimyo’s — not even in their heavily guarded tents.

On top of that, the Daimyo plays a unique role in inspiring troops. When warriors see him fighting alongside them, they know that he didn’t just send them to die — they know that he is willing to die with them.

Even though the Daimyo is a central piece when preparing battle strategies, his real power is to stir the hearts of his people.
